2023 Spring Softball Program

The South Windsor Little League offers fastpitch softball for girls between the ages of 7 and 12. The spring softball program for 2023 will consist of three levels of play (Minors AA, Minors AAA and Majors) as described below. Eligibility for each division is dependent on a player’s softball age and experience. Softball age for the 2023 spring season is a players age as of 12/31/2022.

Minors AA Softball (Ages 7-9):

The Minors AA softball division is open to girls from softball age 7 to 9. This level is a coach pitch division meant to transition younger players to softball. Players will learn the basic skills of hitting, fielding, throwing, base running as well as being introduced to the rules of fastpitch softball for the first time. An eleven-inch softball, sixty-foot base paths and a thirty-five-foot pitching distance will be utilized for this level. Teams will play other local towns so some travel is required. Typically, teams will play or practice a maximum of three times per calendar week.

Minors AAA Softball (Ages 9-11):

The Minors AAA softball division is open to girls from softball age 9 to 11. While the emphasis is still on basic skill development, this level is more competitive then the Minors AA division with pitching being a combination of player and coach pitch. An eleven-inch softball, sixty-foot base paths and a thirty-five-foot pitching distance will be utilized for this level. Teams will play other local towns so some travel is required. Typically, teams will play or practice a maximum of three times per calendar week.

Majors Softball (Ages 10-12):

The Majors softball division is open to girls from softball age 10 to 12. This level is more advanced then the Minors AAA division and the full Little League softball rules apply. All games are pitched by players (no coach pitch). Players will learn advanced hitting, fielding and base running. A twelve-inch softball, sixty-foot base paths and a forty-foot pitching distance will be utilized for this level. Teams will play other local towns so some travel is necessary. Typically, teams will play or practice a maximum of three times per calendar week.
