2015 South Windsor Little League Scholarships
Paul Rozzero presented the 2015 SWLL scholarships on June 8th 2015 at the SWHS Awards assembly. The following SWHS Seniors each received a $1000.00 scholarship:
SWLL Scholarship Golf Tournament
Special Thanks to everyone that supported the SWLL Scholarship Golf Tournament- it was a huge success.
The three $1000.00 Scholarships will be awarded at the SWHS awards assembly on June 8th, 2015
The 2016 Scholarship Tournament will be held at Top Stone GC in South Windsor on Thursday May 5th 2016.
SWLL Pete's CARSTAR Wooden Bat Summer Baseball League
2015 Little League Ages 9-12 are eligible to play- Registration forms are available at the Shack.
The Season will begin on Saturday June 20th- After that all games will be played on Tuesday-Wednesday or Thursday nights at the Complex at either 5:30 or 7:30 PM- The season will conclude on Thursday July 30th-
SWLL Concession Stand Dedication
On Opening Day May 2nd ,2015 with over 1500 SWLL family members and players in attendance, the new Concession stand a.k.a. "The Shack" was dedicated. SWLL was honored to have the entire Town Council, Park and Recreation Committee members and Board of Education members participated in the ceremony. All business partners were recognized, as the dedication plaque was unveiled to the SW Community.
The highlight of the Day was the establishment and induction of Ed Havens into the SWLL Honor Line-up.
SWLL President Al Maximino commented on the 50 year support of Imperial Oil and the Havens family and stressed the importance of this leadoff inductee- Mr Ed Havens that would set the "bar" for everyone that followed as an honoree.
SWLL Executive Board Meeting November 19th-Wooden Bat League
2015 SWLL Baseball at the Major-Minor levels of play will be a Wooden Bat only League effective 12/1/14.
The Wooden Bats will be provided by SWLL at no expense to teams or players. Only League issued bats will be allowed during SWLL sponsored games, practices or clinics.
Parents/Guardians please take note there is no need to spend hundreds of dollars on bats if your player will be registered at the Major, AAA or AA- Baseball levels of play for the 2015 Regular Season.
Tee Ball, Rookie, Farm, Minor A, Junior/Senior Baseball and all divisions of Softball will continue to use Little League approved bats of their choice.
Special Thanks to Tyler Maneeley - Michael Bonzani & Harkens Garden Center
Tyler and Michael completed Eagle Scout Projects over the last 3 weekends. Thanks to their efforts and the efforts of the Scouts that participated,the following improvements were completed: Pepin Bull Pen Pitching Mounds-Duprey Bull Pen Pitching Mound and Right Field Warning Track- Player Benches and Storage Units in the Complex Covered Batting Cages- Major B Dugouts received a fresh coat of maroon paint- Batting Cage Nets were coded for easy re- installation in the Spring and taken down for the Season-Pepin Dugouts received some TLC and additional stone dust was spread were needed.
Harkens Garden Center's Jamie Gilbert donated Stone Dust for both projects.
New Concession Patio- Updated Information
SWLL will be conducting a brick fundraiser to help build a new patio overlooking Pepin Field.
